Obituary for Viola Bernice Dickert (Kapfhamer)

Viola B. Dickert passed away peacefully at home on July 13th. She had been predeceased by her husband William and eldest daughter Theresa Quarto. She is survived by children Kathleen Moran of Holiday, Florida, Janet of Cookeville Tennessee, Phyllis Taylor (Richard) of Whitleyville, Tennessee, William Jr of Hudson, Florida and Edward (Lauren) of Mountainside, New Jersey, her 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also, she is survived by her sister Leona Steinmetz (Jack).

Viola was born in Medford, Wisconsin on September 17, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Martha Kapfhamer. Before moving to New Jersey, she resided in Milwaukee and Chicago prior to meeting her future husband William in Chicago in 1944. They stayed in touch, and married in 1947, eventually settling and raising a family of six children in Hawthorne, New Jersey.

Viola was a parishioner of St. Anthony RC Church in Hawthorne. Throughout her life, she held various jobs, primarily working full time for Yardley of London in the 60's and 70's. Also, she drove a school bus prior to her retirement in 1980. In her spare time, she belonged to bowling leagues, and was an avid player of Bingo. Mostly enjoying the comradery of the games. As well, she never passed up an opportunity to pull the lever of a slot machine.

She loved her annual family vacations in Wisconsin where she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her eight brothers and sisters, and their families, as well as their extended families. They were Albert (Evelyn), John (Cedes), Andrew (Berta), Marie Lewandowski (Matt), Helen Goessl (Orlando), Tillie Mittenzwei (Arthur), Gertrude Boltz (Everett) and Leona.

Following cremation, her remains will be transported to Florida, where she will be interred with her late husband Bill at Bushnell National Cemetery. A memorial mass and service will be held for her at that time.

Viola will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who will always keep her in their thoughts and prayers. Godspeed Viola on your journey to Heaven.
